What is IPL Blue?

Ultra’s Variable Pulsed Light (VPL) works by penetrating the epidermis, or the top layer of the skin, with a specific wavelength of light that targets the dermis where melanin, hemoglobin and collagen reside.
The advanced computer installed in the Energist Ultra VPL, operated by highly trained technicians, regulates the wavelengths of light being emitted, administering the correct wavelength and exposure to the conditions being treated, allowing for a safe, effective treatment without causing damage to the surrounding tissue.
PIGMENTATION
Photo rejuvenation with VPL provides superior results for many skin concerns including pigment marks caused by sun or age; freckles and generalised facial redness.

Genetics, such as in the case of freckling Photo damage from UV rays, resulting in sun spots. Melasma may be present as a result of hormonal changes, pregnancy or the contraceptive pill.
VPL will effectively remove or significantly lighten pigmentation as the skin’s melanin absorbs the light energy, transferring into heat energy to destroy the melanin containing skin cell.
Initially the treated pigmentation will appear darker, however within approximately 2-4 weeks this will diminish and a clearer complexion will become visible. Multiple sessions may be required to produce the desired result with maintenance treatments often necessary.
In cases of excessive pigmentation in the skin, photons from the light emitted from the VPL are absorbed by the pigment (melanin) and converted into heat. Where the pigmentation is denser, there is more heating and this damages both the existing pigment and the structures that generate excessive pigment (melanocytes).
The body recognises the de-natured melanin as waste and begins to expel it from the body, through the cellular system, rapidly migrating it to the surface of the skin. This process can leave the skin looking a little ‘dirty’ until the expelled cells are desquamated (sloughed off), usually at around 10 days post treatment.
ACNE SCARRING
Energist Ultra improves both active acne and acne scarring by destroying the bacteria that causes the infection. Acne is healed significantly following a course of treatments and skin texture and tone is improved as the Energist Ultra initiates further collagen production.
CAPILLARIES, ROSACEA, CHERRY SPOTS
These are conditions where small veins become visible on the skin’s surface. With the Energist Ultra, light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels that make up these imperfections. This absorption process breaks down the vessel walls and allows the body to recognise this as waste and removes them through the lymphatic system. Collagen is the substance in our bodies that keeps our skin looking youthful and smooth. How many treatments are recommended?
Approximately 6 to 10 treatments will be required, however this is dependant on the area and the strength of hair. A quote will be given during consultation.
Each treatment can take as little as five minutes.
What should I expect in my session?
The area to be treated needs to be shaved two days prior to the IPL session. A cooling gel will be applied to the treatment area. The applicator is then placed on this area, and your skin will be exposed to a series of light pulses that flash in rapid succession. The sensation of the treatment is like a faint sting followed by a warm sensation, similar to the flicking of a rubber band.
Does IPL cause sun sensitivity?
IPL increases skin sun sensitivity and should therefore always be used in conjunction with sun protection and SPF 15 (or greater) sunscreen.

At OMNILUX™ we strive to understand how light therapy works in synergy with our bodies’ own natural mechanisms.

How does it work?

What will I see?
In an independent study over 80% of subjects reported a softening of fine lines after treatment and 75% reported improvement in skin softness and smoothness.
Is it safe?
The scientifically designed light source does not have harmful UVA or UVB. You will experience a feeling of relaxation and well-being during and after the treatment. The treatment is not painful, there are no injections involved and there's no patient downtime. Studies have shown that the majority of clients find the treatment relaxing
How many treatments are needed?
This depends upon your individual treatment regime. Your aesthetician will advise you on how many treatments may be suitable for your particular needs.
How long will the treatment take?
Your first treatment will take 45 minutes, allowing for your initial consultation. Ongoing treatments will typically be 30-minute appointments, during which the light is administered for 20 minutes.

How long does it take to recover?
There is no need for recovery time, and makeup can be re-applied immediately after treatment.
Will the results be seen straight away?
This depends upon the treatment options used. The initial effects you will see are a clearer, brighter and smoother complexion. After the course of treatments have finished you will still see an improvement in tone, clarity and skin smoothness. You will also see softening of your fine lines and wrinkles.
How long will the results last?
This will vary according to skin type and lifestyle and whether you have combined OmniluxTM with other treatments. However, when you have completed your course, it is usually recommended that you have one maintenance treatment on a 4-6 week basis, as this will prolong the results.

This is a very effective treatment for both men and women of any age. It is non-invasive and easy to perform.
OMNILUX™ Clinical EfficacyOMNILUX Revive™
The various tissues and cell types in the skin have their own absorption characteristics, absorbing light at specific wavelengths. Studies have shown that red light therapy such as OMNILUX™ can stimulate collagen precursors and enzymes associated with cellular remodelling. In a single study using OMNILUX Revive™ 91% of volunteers reported visible changes to their skin indicating that even five weeks after the last treatment there was still a positive effect on the evaluation criteria. Sixty-four percent reported a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and a perception of softer skin and 68% reported smoother skin the therapy was well tolerated and there were no reported side effects. No pain was encountered during the treatment regime and there were no reported side effects such as erythema and swelling.
Optimum hydration of subjects skin was seen at 5 weeks post treatment. Mean elasticity measurements showed a decrease in the treated side of the face during the treatment regime.
